  1. i use microsoft edge (for some reason) and i noticed something interesting re: updates when there's an update available, there'll be a little green icon in the settings menu with the label "Update available" so far, so good (1/4)

      ...but after some amount of time, if you choose not to update, it'll change to a yellow icon with the label "Update recommended" adding a bit of urgency, y'know? making sure the user is on the latest update n such but it doesn't stop there! (2/4)

        because if you wait even more, the icon will become red and the label will change to "Update now" and i mean... in the small scale of things, this is nothing major. but idk, it feels weird to push the user THAT hard (3/4)

          so there's this interesting progression from "f.y.i." to a suggestion to almost like an order i wonder if there's a name for this that #uxdesign people know about? i found it interesting, at least anyway, i'm in the yellow phase currently
